Here you will find breakout sessions on developing a career plan, resumés, networking, brainstorming (about your specific search), interview practice and using the internet effectively for job search. ALL ARE WELCOME!

This is a weekly brown bag lunch meeting for job seekers at First Methodist (11th & Boulder, downtown Tulsa).  Several Asbury members are a part of this group and several members of FUMC help with OJT.  They meet from 11-1pm.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Assignment Desk Editor schedules assignments based on available personnel Monitors all police and fire radios. Handles customer service with large number of people who call in each day wanting stories covered. Works with producers to make sure stories for newscast are covered. Assigns reporters and photojournalists to news stories. Must be able to direct crews to news locations accurately and quickly using maps, the latest software and GPS systems. Checks news wires and beats each day. Writes and edits stories for online media platforms. Works with the producer to coordinate SNG coverage and requests, and responsible for daily “menu” which spells out stories being covered. This person reports to the Assignment Desk Manager.

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS: Previous or related experience on a television news assignment desk and/or producing a newscast is preferred. Proven management skills and college degree, helpful, preferably college degree in Journalism. Must be detail oriented, have excellent interpersonal skills, and be highly organized with strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to handle stressful and time sensitive situations.
